Colette Schmidt-Turner, MD ’78

Colette has been mission-driven since her days at IWA. Valedictorian of her graduating class in 1978, Colette went on to become a Curators’ Scholar at the University of Missouri, earning an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in just three years and her MD from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1986. A Board Certified Internal Medicine Specialist, Colette has provided medical care to St. Louisans for 20 years, holding numerous leadership positions at Christian Northeast/Northwest Hospitals and acting as partner and president of her internal medicine practice since 1990. Currently, she is a shareholder and practitioner with Esse Health, and continues to provide caring service to her patients. While she has given an abundance of time and energy to a variety of organizations (among them, Incarnate Word’s Alumnae Association and the Soroptimist club of North county), she is perhaps proudest of the parish ministry service she has performed on behalf of her parish, St. Norbert in Florissant. Since 1997, she has served St. Norbert in many different capacities – from member of the Liturgy Committee and Parish Council to School Board member and Girl Scout Troop Leader. She is a long-time member of the St. Norbert Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and currently acts as the volunteer leader of the St. Norbert Children’s Liturgy programs. Colette has made a significant impact on her peers, students and administration at St. Norbert’s. The list of her leadership roles and commitment to Catholic education is phenomenal. She considers herself a very blessed and fortunate woman. WE consider ourselves very blessed and fortunate to claim her as part of our IWA family.
