|Maria McMahon - 1986 - Education
Maria was destined to be an educator. Graduating in 1986, her classmates on senior retreat provided her with warm enlightenment for her own life as well as enriching friendships. Maria was active in Spanish Club and Century Club (logged 100 miles) for 4 years. Maria was on her CYC city championship teams in softball and volleyball for 2 years. After IWA, Maria procured her undergraduate degree in Psychology and her Masters in Education and Counseling from the University of Missouri-Columbia. In 1995, Maria obtained her LPC (License Professional Counseling) and worked in Columbia, MO public schools for 15 years. She also is a private practice counselor in a Columbia local firm. In 2010, Maria was inducted into the National Honor Society of Teachers Hickman High School. She has volunteered for numerous agencies including the United Way, Youth Community Coalition and Drug Task Force for the past 20 years. In 1999, Maria was the recipient of the Youth Volunteer Service Award. She has completed 5 marathons, participated in 2 triathlons and 10 half marathons and has been a certified Aerobic/Fitness instructor for 24 years. For the past 8 years, Maria has been the proud parent of a 4 legged "fuzzy child” named Addie.
