IWA Cheerleading
RED GOLD and WHITE-  the chant from the sidelines for nearly 5 decades.   Incarnate Word Academy has a strong cheerleading tradition. Approximately 25 girls participate in the program each year.
The IWA Cheer history highlights include national appearances by both the JV and Varsity teams at the DCA National Championships , participation in the MCCA regional competition and State Championships since 1992, resulting in 11 appearances at State,  5 State Championships  and 8 regional championships for the varsity team.    The 2015-2016 Varsity team earned a bid to the 2015 State Championships by taking 5th Place at the St. Louis Regional  held at Washington High School on July 22, 2015. 
The history of IWA Cheerleading features numerous highlights.  Their summer camp experiences have merited team members the privilege of participating in the Orange Bowl and Hula Bowl  half-times. In addition, IWA cheerleaders have been proudly named to the All American Teams for NCA, ICF, ACF, DCA, and CSA on numerous occasions.   
Currenly, the IWA cheerleaders  improve their skills by attending a private camp conducted by the renown staff of Cheer Legendz.   
Tryouts for the upcoming year are held in April. Dates are determine in January.  If an incoming freshman or transfer student is not able to attend the formal tryouts, they may contact Coach Rothweiler for a special tryout appointment.  Individuals trying out must have a current physical and Athletic participation permission form on the first day of tryouts.
