Campus Ministry

The Campus Ministry Team at Incarnate Word Academy is committed to forming Women of the Word. Our mission is to provide opportunities for students to grow together in faith and community. Like the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, we seek to make the love of God a real and tangible presence at our school.

Incarnational Spirituality affirms the dignity and importance of each young woman at IWA. Students are invited to come as they are, no matter their faith experience or background. As an extension of this, our new Campus Ministry room is a welcoming and safe place for students to be authentic and practice intentional conversations. Students can join us in this space before or after school as well as during free periods each day.

Each year, we adopt a spiritual theme as a school community. This year, we are focusing on the the IWA Core Belief of "Making a Positive Impact on the World."

Sr. Eileen is an IWA alumna from 1959 when she entered the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. She received her B.A. in Education from the University of the Incarnate Word and her M.S.S.W. in Social Work from the University of Texas in Austin. She then worked in social services for more than thirty years. This included residential and educational programs for young people with special needs, counseling persons of all ages, and hospice care.

Since 2005 Sr. Eileen has been serving as Director of Mission Integration at IWA. Mission Integration means looking for ways to help students, faculty, and staff implement the mission of Jesus, the Incarnate Word, in their daily lives. A Mission Committee of students from all grade levels and several staff meet monthly and sponsor various projects. The committee helps direct the monthly selection of five Mission Models from the IWA community.
