The Campus Ministry Team at Incarnate Word Academy is committed to forming Women of the Word. Our mission is to provide opportunities for students to grow together in faith and community. Like the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, we seek to make the love of God a real and tangible presence at our school.
Incarnational Spirituality affirms the dignity and importance of each young woman at IWA. Students are invited to come as they are, no matter their faith experience or background. As an extension of this, our new Campus Ministry room is a welcoming and safe place for students to be authentic and practice intentional conversations. Students can join us in this space before or after school as well as during free periods each day.
Each year, we adopt a spiritual theme as a school community. This year, we are focusing on Catherine of Siena’s quote: “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.” We want to celebrate each student’s unique gifts and what she can contribute to both our school and the larger community.
Campus Ministry Team
I am excited to be coming back for my fourth year here at Incarnate Word Academy. A native of St. Louis, I attended De Smet Jesuit High School before continuing my education at Saint Louis University. After graduating SLU with a degree in Social Work & Theology, I completed a year of service as theology teacher and campus minister at St. Louis University High School. This year at IWA, I will be teaching junior theology (Morality & Social Justice) and working in Campus Ministry, focusing on retreats and liturgies.
Outside of IWA, I coach water polo at CBC High School, volunteer at Incarnate Word Parish's Life Teen program, and enjoy sports and hiking. I have been happily married to my beautiful wife, Jenna, since May of 2017.
Campus Minister -
I graduated from Incarnate in 2001 and am so excited to be back at a place that means so much to me. After high school, I attended Southeast Missouri State University and earned my Master's degree in Public Administration in 2009. I have enjoyed working with the Minnesota Twins Baseball Club and many wonderful nonprofits ever since.
Outside of IWA, I enjoy Crossfitting, sports, being outside and spending time with my friends and family. I have three adorable nephews that I love to go on adventures with and watch play sports. I have a passion for service whether serving meals at St. Peter and Paul Men's Shelter, granting wishes for the Make-A-Wish Foundation or working alongside my Nicaraguan neighbors with Amigos for Christ.
Sr. Eileen is an IWA alumna from 1959 when she entered the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. She received her B.A. in Education from the University of the Incarnate Word and her M.S.S.W. in Social Work from the University of Texas in Austin. She then worked in social services for more than thirty years. This included residential and educational programs for young people with special needs, counseling persons of all ages, and hospice care.
Since 2005 Sr. Eileen has been serving as Director of Mission Integration at IWA. Mission Integration means looking for ways to help students, faculty, and staff implement the mission of Jesus, the Incarnate Word, in their daily lives. A Mission Committee of students from all grade levels and several staff meet monthly and sponsor various projects. The committee helps direct the monthly selection of five Mission Models from the IWA community.
