Service Learning Program

• Freshmen: 20 hours
• Sophomores: 20 hours
• Juniors: 60 hours (Junior Service Project)
• Seniors: 20 hours

Total Required Prior to Graduation: 120 hours

Specific deadlines are assigned each year and MUST be met in order to maintain eligibility for extracurricular participation and senior privileges, including Prom and Commencement. 

Service Guidelines: 

• All service must be direct, in-person service provided to individuals or communities in need. 
• Service must be completed through an approved nonprofit organization whose mission aligns with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• All service must be unpaid and voluntary. 
• Family members may not serve as supervisors for verification of hours. 
• A minimum of 10 hours of service must be completed outside of Incarnate Word Academy each year. 

• Students are responsible for logging all service hours using MobileServe. 
• Each service entry must include supervisor verification and a brief reflection. 
• Students are REQUIRED to complete an End-of-Year Reflection Essay summarizing their service experiences and personal growth in faith.

Failure to complete service hours by assigned deadlines may result in: 

• Suspension of extracurricular and leadership participation. 
• Loss of senior privileges for seniors. 
• Administrative meetings with students and parents to create a plan for completion. 

Students who exceed required hours may be eligible for service distinction awards that honor exceptional commitment to service and faith in action. 

Through the Service Learning Program, Incarnate Word Academy seeks to form young women who embody Christ’s love, live lives of mercy and justice, and serve as leaders committed to building a more just and compassionate world.
