Mission Statement
The Mathematics Education Department is designed to educate all students of different abilities in the field of Mathematics. The department offers a complete high school curriculum for the college bound math student and challenges each individual to develop her mathematical talents. Educators place emphasis on conceptual understanding as well as multiple ways of thinking.

Mrs. Kutz began teaching at IWA for the 2004-2005 school year. She is the senior class moderator, which includes the Big Sisters/Little Sisters Program, and is the Mathematics department chairperson for the fall semester. She received a BA degree in Mathematics from the University of Missouri-Columbia, an MBA degree from St. Louis University and a Missouri Secondary Mathematics Teaching Certificate from Lindenwood University.
Shelly Hartmann

Mrs. Hartmann has been teaching at IWA since the 07-08 school year. She graduated from Rosary High School and then went on to the University of Missouri—Columbia for two years. She graduated from the University of Missouri—St. Louis in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Math and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. She is currently working on her masters at the University of Missouri—St. Louis. She is also the Varsity Dance coach.
Tom Sucher

Mr. Sucher came to IWA at the start of the 2007-2008 school year after over thirty years of teaching in the Parkway school district. He has both A.B. and A.M. degrees in mathematics and holds lifetime Missouri teaching certification in both mathematics and social studies.
Amy Thompson '00

Ms. Thompson is an alumna of IWA’s class of 2000 and has been teaching at IWA since 2005. She serves as the co-chair for the Mathematics department and as the head coach for the varsity softball team. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southeast Missouri State University in 2004 earning a Bachelor of Science in Education – Secondary Mathematics. While there, she was a member of the Division I Women’s Softball team. She also holds a Missouri State Teaching Certification in Secondary Mathematics Education.
