Amy James

Mrs.
Amy James has been a part of the IWA English Dept. since 2003. She
received her English certification from the University of Missouri- St.
Louis and also holds a BS in Business Administration and Retail
Management from the Rochester Institute of Technology, in Rochester,
NY, her hometown. Mrs. James is also the moderator of the Lit Club and
is an avid reader and Shakespeare fan.
Michael Barrett

The current school year represents Mr. Barrett’s twenty-sixth year as a teacher at IWA. He is a graduate of Saint Louis University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English with life-time certification to teach at the secondary level. He went on to receive his Master’s Degree from Webster University. He has also completed additional course work in writing and literature at both Webster University and the University of Missouri-Saint Louis. Over the years, he has also maintained an affiliation with St. Louis Community College, teaching there most summers and benefiting from additional contact with professionals and students at the college level.

Angie Kohnen '94

Angela Kohnen (Incarnate Word class of 1994) graduated with a degree in English Literature from Washington University in 1998. While at Wash U, she was a four-year member of the varsity women’s basketball team and captained the squad to its first ever national title. After graduation, she moved to New York where she enrolled in the MFA program in creative writing at Brooklyn College.
Ms. Kohnen moved back to St. Louis in 2000 and began taking classes at College of Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis a few years later. She earned her teaching certificate in 2005 and her Masters in Education in 2007. Also in 2007, she received the College of Education’s Outstanding Graduate Student award and the Missouri Association of Colleges of Teacher Education’s Outstanding Beginning Teacher award. Currently, Ms. Kohnen is a student in the doctoral program in the Division of Teaching and Learning at UMSL. Her dissertation research focuses on improving the use of technology in the English classroom.
Leslie Teague

Leslie Teague has been teaching at IWA since 2007. She taught in the public school setting for two years prior to coming to Incarnate. Leslie earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education with a major in English from Saint Louis University in 2005 and a Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Communication Arts from Webster University in December of 2008. She is certified to teach 9th through 12th grade English by the State of Missouri. Leslie is also the moderator of the Peace and Justice Club.
Bryan Villmer

Bryan Villmer has been teaching at IWA since 1993. He is currently the moderator of the school newspaper, Word for Word, the school yearbook, Photo Club, and Ultimate Frisbee Club. He has been active in the school's Peace and Justice Club and its precursor, Amnesty International, since his arrival at IWA. Mr. Villmer has a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Additionally, he has had several poems published in small literary journals. Though he no longer coaches an IWA sports team, Mr. Villmer enjoys attending Incarnate games with his wife Cady (a former Spanish teacher at IWA) and children Jessica and Pablo.
