The IWA Cheer program has been a tradition for the past 4 decades. Starting with just a varsity team, the program now features the Junior Varsity and the Varsity Cheerleaders. Approximately 30 girls participate in the program each year.
The IWA Cheer history highlights include national appearances by both the JV and Varsity teams at the DCA National Championships , participation in the MCCA regional competition and State Championships since 1992, resulting in 10 appearances at State, 5 State Championships for the Varsity team, and 8 regional championships.
Summer camp has merited team members the privilege of participating in the Orange Bowl or Hula Bowl half-times. In addition, IWA cheerleaders have been proudly named to the All American Teams for NCA, ICF, ACF, DCA, and CSA throughout their history.
Since the late 1990’s, the IWA cheerleaders have improved their skills by attending private camps, the more recent being conducted by the renown staff of Cheer Legendz.
Tryouts for the upcoming year are held in April. Dates are determine in January. If an incoming freshman or transfer student is not able to attend the formal tryouts, they may contact Coach Rothweiler for a special tryout appointment. Individuals trying out must have a current physical and Athletic participation permission form on the first day of tryouts.
The coaching staff want to feature an alum performance at the BB Alum night. IWA Cheer Alum are asked to contact Coach Rothweiler if they are interested in participating.
