Campus Ministry is an integral part of the IWA school community that
encompasses the planning of all school liturgies, class retreats,
prayer services, reconciliation and the school-wide community service
program. Of greatest importance is the continued preserving and
implementing of the mission of Incarnate Word Academy.
A full time Director of Campus Ministry Programs is available to the
school community. As a member of the religion department, the
Director of Campus Ministry Programs interacts, plans and carries out
programs and projects that are integral to the goals and objectives of
the department.
Sr. Eileen graduated from IWA in 1959 and then entered the Sisters
of Charity of the Incarnate Word in San
Antonio, Texas. There she received a B.A. degree in education
from the University of the Incarnate Word.
After teaching for five years, she received a Masters degree in social
work from the University of Texas in Austin. She later became a licensed clinical social
worker and worked in various social services for thirty years. In August of 2005 Sr. Eileen became the Mission Integration
Coordinator at IWA. Mission Integration
focuses on implementing the mission of Jesus, the Incarnate Word, in daily
life. At IWA this relates to spiritual
development and community outreach as well as the academic program. Sr. Eileen is the moderator of IWA’s Mission
Committee of students and staff. This
dedicated group was largely responsible for the recent installation of IWA’s
History Wall and Memorabilia Exhibit.
Ms. Pitti has been in education for
over thirty-five years.Before coming to
IWA, she taught math and religion for thirty-two years at St. Matthias the
Apostle including being the religion coordinator for seven years. She
received her B.A. from FontbonneCollege and her M.Ed. from the University
of Missouri, St. Louis. She also has her Religious
Education Certification from the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
Ms. Pitti works with the faculty and
students in planning liturgies, prayer services and retreats. She
oversees the community service projects of all the students.She is also the moderator of the Key Club, the
Liturgy Committee, and the Marian Middle School Committee as well as a member
of the Mission Committee.Additionally, she
is a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Manchester and sings in
the choir.
